Medieval Bergen is relatively well known to us. Both the surviving buildings and the numerous preserved written sources tell us much about medieval city life, but no sources can give such a vivid account of everyday life as archaeology. The knowledge production based on excavations and other examinations of Bryggen seem endless, and some samples are presented here.
